Letters to Charlotte: 8 months old

Dear Charlotte:

You are crawling! I'm not sure how it happened so quickly, one day you were rocking back and forth and the next you were just taking off. I'm going to credit watching the other kids at day care and your determination to be mobile. You are so quick for such a little thing! You enjoy just following us or Crew around the house. If we sit down with you in the play room, you usually crawl over and on top of us or play right next to us. You like to be close - and lately have not enjoyed being put down! I'm enjoying it - for the most part! ;) You really like sitting up on your knees too, and do that every chance you get. Even in the bathtub - that seems to be your most comfortable position. You like sleeping on your tummy. When you fall asleep and we move you upstairs to the crib, you immediately flip over onto your back. You also know how to find your paci and pop it back in, as well as start your seahorse so it lights up and plays the music for you to fall asleep. You're becoming so much more self sufficient! The past few days you discovered that you can hold your paci and pop one finger inside, and that's all I see you do now!

You're up to around 15lbs, not sure how tall you are. For the most part you're wearing your 9 month clothes, some things you're wearing your 12 month. I keep uncovering 3-6 month and have to put it away. You outgrow everything so fast!

You and Crew have definitely bonded. He sees you crawling around and comes and lays right next to you, almost like he's there waiting to catch you if you fall. He likes curling up right against you, and you enjoy patting him and laugh at him all the time. He comes into view and you are completely captivated!

You got a few more teeth on the top - your two middle ones. I believe that puts you at 6 total teeth so far, but I think you might have a few more coming in right now. You chew on absolutely everything. Nothing is off limits to you! The other day you even picked up one of Crew's bones and tried to put it in your mouth. Luckily I caught you in time! I discovered you like frozen bananas, so we snack on those now. You also enjoy snacks in stick form because you can hold on to them. Teething biscuits and such - you really like them! You got to try French Fries when Mamaw and Grandaddy were in town and you REALLY liked that. I even tried giving you a lemon! You gave a sour face at first, then went back for more and before I knew it you were sucking all the juice out of the lemon.

Lately we've had a rough time with ear infections. You seem to have developed a very stubborn one. It started in your left ear, we got over that one just to have one start up in your right ear. So far you've tried 3 different antibiotics, and if this last one doesn't work then we'll have to try a round of shots. That's the last ditch effort before tubes, so lets cross our fingers we don't have to do shots or tubes! It's made you pretty miserable the past few weeks. You haven't been sleeping as well, eating as much, and have been more irritable. On the flip side, you're much more cuddly when you don't feel good. You're perfectly content to just sit cuddled in our lap. You like snuggling into our necks now too, it's so sweet!

You have such a happy disposition, it makes my heart melt. Always smiling and laughing - even when you're sick you like to play and laugh! How did we get so lucky?? We love you!!
