The Price is Right: June 2014

Hello my sweet girl!

Your first month FLEW by! I'd say that we spent the majority of our days just relaxing. Your Mamaw stayed with us for the first week, and Daddy got to stay home too. You even got a visit that weekend from your Grandaddy! Big sister continued to shower you in kisses, but you didn't seem to mind at all! Usually anyone that was holding you, also ended up holding her. We discovered quickly that you are a total cuddle bug. You were not really a fan of being put down. And you LOVE to be swaddled. It's the best way to relax you at night, to swaddle you. You were a very calm baby from day 1. Only crying when you're hungry. We continued to have success with nursing - and you packed on the pounds! We had to retire all the newborn and 0-3 month clothes when you were 1 month old! Around the time you were 2 weeks, your Paran and Aunt Sonia came into town to meet you! Crew took to you just like he did with Charlotte, loved you immediately. You've gotten some Crew kisses and seem to enjoy watching him. I think you're trying to figure out exactly what he is!

For Memorial Day, our sweet friends Dannie & John came over to cook us lunch! It was so good, and it was so thoughtful of them to come to us. That day you also met Laith and Neely, they stopped by that afternoon while Dannie and John were still there. It was a lot of fun! You got to meet Curtis a few days later, he came into town for several days. We took you to your first dinner out at the Club, and you did so great! You slept right through and woke up towards the end of dinner to eat. It was our first time taking both of you girls out to a dinner, and I'd say it was a great success!

That's about it for your first month. You nursed a lot, usually about every 1 1/2 hr - 2 hrs. No sleeping through the night, but we got lots of rest between nursing schedules. We tried to go on several walks, and when we fell into a good routine, I started trying to take you on at least one errand a day to get us out of the house. I definitely tried to keep us active!

Health:
We had to take you in for a few follow up jaundice checks. Each time you passed with flying colors. Your doctor decided it must just be breastmilk jaundice - and they recommended giving you Vitamin D and supplementing with formula. Mommy did some research and decided to wait it out and see if you just needed more time. (Spoiler alert, after your 2 month checkup it disappeared, never had to use any formula!). The only problem we have is a clogged tear duct in your right eye. It waters and builds up gunk on your eyelids constantly. The only thing they said we can really do is to just massage the bridge of your nose to help open it up a little. Some days are better than others, but it seems to be an on-going issue.

2 week check up stats:
Weight: 7 lbs (you passed your birth weight, 6 lb 9 oz!)
Height: 20.3 in (up from 19.25 in)
Head size: 13.39 in (no idea what it was at birth, my notes are filed away!)

1 month check up stats:
Weight: 8 lb 12 oz
Height: 21.25
Head size: 14 in
