Rescued from the Houston SPCA

The Mr. and I have been wanting to get a dog for a really long time now. We've done a lot of research on what kind we want and all of that. We had both agreed to wait until after we were married to start looking and adopt one. Then came Crew.

I love dogs. Love. I peruse the rescue organizations every once in a while - and on July 5th that's all I was doing. Browsing. I stumbled across this adorable litter of Great Pyrenees mix puppies and became completely smitten with one they'd nicknamed "Jeremy". All rationality went out the window, and I started campaigning with my love to go rescue him. To my knowledge, he was in a litter of 5 puppies and had 1 brother and 3 sisters. All had been taken to the Houston SPCA on July 4th because the owner had too many pets and couldn't take care of them anymore. I couldn't wait. I begged and pleaded with Mr. to go see the puppies that very night. We had a cake tasting for his groom's cake - but I won him over and we went as soon as we were done picking out the cake. (which was red velvet deliciousness!!!) However, we were too late that evening - they had closed 10 minutes earlier and refused to let us in!

The next day I probably refreshed their website about 200 times - and was very nervous to see that 2 puppies had already been adopted! What if our precious puppy got adopted by someone else? I couldn't bear it. I left work early and went by myself to the SPCA. It broke my heart to see all the sweet animals there. I wanted to rescue each and every one of them - but a woman has to have limits! I stayed focused and went straight for "Jeremy". As soon as he locked eyes with me - it was all over. I didn't even really need to take him to a "getting acquainted" room - I was his from that moment. Luckily I got there when I did too - because he'd had a lot of visitors that day! I started the paperwork process immediately (once I got the text okay from Mr.) - and boom - we had a puppy!

How can you not fall in love with him???

We took him home on July 7th, we had to wait a day so they could microchip him and neuter him. I was so excited, I was like a child at Christmas! All day long I just couldn't focus on anything but him! We had gone to Petsmart the night before to pick up all the necessities that you need when getting a new puppy: cage, bed, treats, bones, toys, etc. He is going to be very spoiled, I want to buy him everything! He settled in immediately. Playing with us and his toys, and exploring his new home. We decided on the name Crew - it was Mr.'s pick. For an Aggie dog, it's a pretty cool thing to be named after the Wrecking Crew! :)
