Letters to Savannah: 3 months old!

My little peanut,

I'm finally catching up! I'm actually posting this on time, well, a few days late I suppose. Lots of big things happening this past month! No 3 month check up - so I'll post the few weight checks that I've done at home. (Technically your 2 month check up happened this month, so the pictures from that are below, but the stats are in your last update.)

The start of this month was focused on me soaking up everything I could before going back to work. I was SO sad to be leaving you. We went running most days together, you were the best running buddy. Kept me motivated by crying anytime I stopped. Let me tell you, running with a stroller is tough! We also got on track with home cooked meals, and have stayed with it! You and I got really good at grocery shopping, so we've had plenty of things to cook at home to keep us from eating out. It's been fun, we've been trying out new recipes and are able to have Charlotte eat what we eat. I feel like you've spearheaded everything - you've motivated us to do better!!

Health:
You're a nice, healthy baby! Still struggling with that right eye though. For some reason that tear duct just doesn't seem to want to open up, so you have a constant amount of gunk on that eye. We just keep cleaning it off so it doesn't build up! You're still nursing every 2 hours or so. Although, in the evenings after school I noticed you nurse for longer periods of time. I think that might be a comfort thing more than a hunger. This month you started just under 12 lbs, and got to almost 13. You are doing so, so well!
Weight: in the 12lb range, 50th percentile
Height: 23 in, 35th percentile
Diaper Size: Holding strong in Size 2
Clothes: 3-6 months and 6 months

School:
We had a rough start to school! You started on July 14th, same day that I went back to work. Mommy cried, a lot. It was really, really hard to leave you. You've been so dependent on me, we hadn't been separated for more than 2 hours your whole life! Overall, you did well. However, towards the end of the day I got a call (at 4:45) from school asking if I was coming by to nurse soon or bringing more milk, because you were hungry. I had sent 15 ounces of milk that day - way more than you needed. Turns out, they thought it was okay to fill a bottle with 5 oz and just *throw away* what you didn't drink. You hadn't eaten since 2:15 PM. I was HORRIFIED and so upset. First of all, I had already told them that you drank 2 oz each bottle. Second, I had also said, on the off chance she finishes all this milk, please call me when she is finishing the last of it so I have at least 1-2 hours notice and can get there in time. Third, who on EARTH throws away that much breastmilk? Needless to say, I showed up at school and made sure they knew not to do that ever again. They were very apologetic, and to their credit it didn't happen ever again. Your teachers are really wonderful and they felt awful. Luckily they had a paci on hand and you took that and didn't fight it! So, now you'll take a pacifier - but usually only when Mommy isn't around. If I try to give you one, you give me a look that tells me you're offended that I'm even offering it.

At first you didn't sleep much at all at school. Too much going on for you I suppose. You're also a cuddle bug, so being put down in a crib has been a big adjustment. You settled in well after the first week though - and you haven't gotten sick yet! (Knock on wood) Your teachers, Ms. Laura and Ms. Emily are really great and keep us updated on your progress. It's been a very nice blessing that you have such wonderful teachers who love you and take such good care of you!

Activities:
We didn't have too much going on this month, with me going back to work and all. Most weekends we just spent time relaxing (or trying to) and catching up on things at home. You and I did make a trip to Austin for Tiffany's baby shower. That was fun! We stopped on the way there and the way back at Tiffany's house, so that broke up the trip quite nicely. You are SO not a fan of the car seat. The driving part was pretty rough on you, but overall I thought you did really well!

On a sad note, we found out that our Pediatrician is moving to The Woodlands. I was devastated. We LOVE Dr. Moore, she has been so fantastic. I'm glad you were able to see her for your first few appointments!
