Then and now

I came across this photo from almost a year ago. I found myself wondering, where on earth did this sweet little puppy who was afraid of the water go?

He grew up. A LOT. This was this weekend, he loves his new backyard pool!

Just another Friday night

Today I came home to find this at our kitchen door:

Yay! Baby P's crib has arrived, and in a HUGE box. This is going to be fun. But maybe not as much fun as Crew had today....

Luckily no shoes today! ;)

Once I got that cleaned up, Chris got home so it was time to bring in the giant box. This was not easy.

We had to open it downstairs and carry everything up, piece by piece. That was probably the easiest way to do it - considering the box weighed over 125 lbs. Good times. We got everything upstairs and started to dive in.

Lots of pieces!!!

Chris assembled one drawer, then we decided to take a break and eat dinner. Well, that and see what kind of damage awaited us again downstairs. Crew was a little hungry and started eating the crib box. Luckily we'd already gotten all the important things upstairs! When we got back to work, things went pretty smoothly!

Drawers done, and changing table that attaches to the side done!

Almost done....

And after 2 hours and very minimal frustration - the finished product!!

Crew came to inspect our work. Don't be fooled, he did not help!

Very proud Daddy!
It feels good to have one big thing down. We love her crib, it's beautiful. A nice perk is that it converts to a toddler bed AND a full size bed, so we'll get lots of use out of it! (As long as we're able to keep up with those extra pieces.......)

By request

I was asked to take pictures of my growing baby bump so that family members that don't see me everyday can keep up too. I have to say, I'm not great at this - we forget. In case you hadn't heard, we've had a lot going on. Plus, we've lost the power cord for our digital camera, so my iPhone is all we've got. Here's what we've remembered to take so far.

Someone felt a little left out.

A year of firsts

A lot has happened in the past year.
We adopted our sweet puppy, Crew.
We got married!
We both got new jobs - hello life!
We found out we were expecting our first child, holy moly!
We bought our first house!

All in one year. That's a lot to process - we're still processing all of it.

How did this sweet little angel........

Turn into this massive, destructive beast? (He's still my little angel though...)
 Crew on his first birthday!

An example of the destruction I mentioned....

The $3 bucket - the cheapest dog toy we've found!

Clearly, the new house with the huge backyard is Crew's favorite new thing this year!

Rescued from the Houston SPCA

The Mr. and I have been wanting to get a dog for a really long time now. We've done a lot of research on what kind we want and all of that. We had both agreed to wait until after we were married to start looking and adopt one. Then came Crew.

I love dogs. Love. I peruse the rescue organizations every once in a while - and on July 5th that's all I was doing. Browsing. I stumbled across this adorable litter of Great Pyrenees mix puppies and became completely smitten with one they'd nicknamed "Jeremy". All rationality went out the window, and I started campaigning with my love to go rescue him. To my knowledge, he was in a litter of 5 puppies and had 1 brother and 3 sisters. All had been taken to the Houston SPCA on July 4th because the owner had too many pets and couldn't take care of them anymore. I couldn't wait. I begged and pleaded with Mr. to go see the puppies that very night. We had a cake tasting for his groom's cake - but I won him over and we went as soon as we were done picking out the cake. (which was red velvet deliciousness!!!) However, we were too late that evening - they had closed 10 minutes earlier and refused to let us in!

The next day I probably refreshed their website about 200 times - and was very nervous to see that 2 puppies had already been adopted! What if our precious puppy got adopted by someone else? I couldn't bear it. I left work early and went by myself to the SPCA. It broke my heart to see all the sweet animals there. I wanted to rescue each and every one of them - but a woman has to have limits! I stayed focused and went straight for "Jeremy". As soon as he locked eyes with me - it was all over. I didn't even really need to take him to a "getting acquainted" room - I was his from that moment. Luckily I got there when I did too - because he'd had a lot of visitors that day! I started the paperwork process immediately (once I got the text okay from Mr.) - and boom - we had a puppy!

How can you not fall in love with him???

We took him home on July 7th, we had to wait a day so they could microchip him and neuter him. I was so excited, I was like a child at Christmas! All day long I just couldn't focus on anything but him! We had gone to Petsmart the night before to pick up all the necessities that you need when getting a new puppy: cage, bed, treats, bones, toys, etc. He is going to be very spoiled, I want to buy him everything! He settled in immediately. Playing with us and his toys, and exploring his new home. We decided on the name Crew - it was Mr.'s pick. For an Aggie dog, it's a pretty cool thing to be named after the Wrecking Crew! :)
